Good Poor Man's APO
Pros:Razor sharp images; Takes magnification well with no false color; Low Price.
Cons:Longer tube than some; Standard mechanicals are decent but nothing special.
Comments:I bought this as an OTA, used on Astromart, and mounted it on my CG-5. Mine came with a GSO dual speed focuser. This is the same optically as the Orion and Skywatcher models. The Celestron model is no longer made, but there are plenty of used ones floating around still. I liked the Celestron look better than the others.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I use this model for lunar and planetary, double stars, and wide field observing. On these it is excellent - I routinely push the magnification up to 300x with good results. I can discern no appreciable false color. This is something that the shorter focal length ED imports cannot match.Sort by
