Manufacturer Description
The 1-1/4" OIII narrowband filter isolates just the two doubly-ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm lines) emitted by planetary and emission nebulae, while blocking the rest of the overall spectrum of light. The result is extreme contrast between the black sky background and the faint photons of OIII light needed for detailed views of the Veil, Ring, Dumbbell, Crescent and Orion nebulae, among other objects.
Each filter has an ultra hard, vacuum-deposited coating carefully designed to block all of the visual spectrum ranging from 400 to 700 mm This eliminates the un-natural colored halos surrounding bright stars common with O III filters of less sophisticated coating technology.
Product carries full two year factory limited warranty (within US/Canada only).

Great Views
Pros: Cons: Comments:I purchased this filter to get better views of Nebula. The filter definitely highlights the contrast of the nebula against the darker background. The threaded filter fits all my 2" eye pieces and is a nice addition to my observing tools.

Pros: Cons: Comments:Works excellent on my Explore Scientific 127mm. Tested early morning Aug 2018 on Orion Nebula in East horizon. Brings out nebulosity quite well.

Pros: Cons: Comments:This filter is not very useful for planets, galaxies or globular clusters. However, for many nebulae, the distinction in light polluted skies is remarkable. The Dumbbell and Ring Nebulae are much more clearly defined in urban/suburban skies with it. The Crab Nebula was virtually invisible in my area even with my 10", but with the OIII filter it was clearly visible. It did not seem to make much difference with the Orion Nebula, but that could have been due to atmospheric degradation at the time. It probably is not needed in really dark skies, but highly recommended for viewing nebulae in light polluted areas.

Pros:Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:The reason for the 4 star rating is, I'm new to the use of these type of filters and at this point don't really know what to expect. I've only used the filter once and it showed marked improvement over seeing without the filter. I expect that over time I will learn to observe with the filter similar to learning to see dim variable stars with averted vision and at that point I'll change the rating to 5 stars.

Pros:Quality Lenses,Lightweight,Excellent Contrast Boost,Strong Construction,Compact,Accurate
Cons: Comments:I've used this filter extensively on The Veil and the contrast enhancement is excellent. I sold it and got a 2" DGM O-III and the Celestron is much better. I've since sold the DGM O-III and will be getting the Celestron O-III again because it does wonders on many targets including The Veil, M-57, The Helix Nebula, M-27, and a lot of planetary Nebulas.

Pros:Lightweight,Accurate,Quality Lenses,Compact,Strong Construction,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I have read that O111 filters only work in 203mm or larger aperture scopes but I have found this to be untrue. I have a 114mm aperture scope and the filter workes just fine with it. It brings out subtle details of emission nebulas in my small scope with no problems. No cons and all pros.
