Manufacturer Description
Finding objects couldn’t be easier! A 1x, or unit power finderscope designed so you can point the telescope while scanning the sky with both eyes. A mirror lens projects the image of a LED illuminated pinpoint into the line of sight, providing you with a red dot of light to center on the object you want to view.
Something like having a laser pointer that reaches into the sky, it greatly simplifies finding objects. The brightness level is adjustable, and the Star Pointer can be used during daytime observing as well. Attaches to most telescopes easily.
Two plastic bases are included to attach this finder to most telescopes.
- The larger base has a base curve diameter of approximately 9". It can accommodate mounting screws that are between 30mm (1.18") and 37mm (1.46") apart from center-to-center. This is typically used for 8" and larger telescopes.
- The smaller base has a base curve diameter of approximately 7" and can be used with telescopes from 6" to 8" in aperture. The center-to-center hole spacing on this is 29mm (1.14").
Either base can be used with telescopes smaller than 6" in aperture, but be aware that the base will be a bit skewed on the telescope tube surface, although this will not be a problem in most cases. Mounting screws are not included and must be provided by the user.
Product carries two year factory limited warranty (within US/Canada only).

I used it on a
Pros: Cons: Comments:I used it on a 415mm table top reflector. It works very well for that purpose especially at the price. The only improvement I would suggest would be to include a simple set of instructions.

Jul 4, 2015It does the job
Pros:Lightweight,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I like star-hopping with my 8" dob but often had difficulty get a starting point(an identifiable bright star) lined up in the 8x50 finder scope. With this red-dot finder I'm able to get to the start in just a few seconds. This has eliminated an often frustrating part of observing. The Celestron red-dot finder looks kind of cheap but it has turned out to be a great low-cost accessory. I don't ask much from it but it handles the job I got it for.

Jun 28, 2015Excellent value finder
Pros:Several Mounting Brackets,Inexpensive,Easy to Use,Lightweight,Compact
Cons:Red Is A Bit Over-bright,Faint Stars Are Dimmed
Comments:It's a compact red dot finder, allows quick and easy pointing of the scope. Comes with several mounting brackets to fit various scopes, and mounts very quickly. The only flaws are the reflective coatings in the window dim or hide faint stars, and the red dot is somewhat over-bright even at the lowest setting. Works great under suburban skies, though, and also for daytime use, but might bother a bit under dark skies. In general it works well, and is an excellent value.

Jan 30, 2015Cost effective finder
Pros:Easy to Use,Lightweight
Cons: Comments:I replaced the terrible finder on my 6" SCT with this. You can't beat it for the price. It is easy to calibrate, is not obtrusive, and has good battery life. The only down side might be you have to remember to turn it off. That is not enough to take away a star. It is my favorite 1X finder on the market.

Jun 29, 2012Great for the Ditty Bag
Pros:Compact,Inexpensive,Lightweight,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:You can find a better finder and I have them, too. The Celestron Star Pointer is great for a spotting scope or as an inexpensive back up. I keep a couple in my ditty bag and share them at star parties when someone needs a spare. Great bargain.
