Telrad Finder Chart
Pros:Very easy to use; Laminated; Observe by constellation; Take one book out to your observing site
Cons:None
Comments:I have been using the Telrad Finder Chart of the “Best” 300 Objects for a couple years. This is by far the best finder chart I have ever used. It is a compilation of Messier, Caldwell, the Royal Astronomy Society of Canada’s Finest NGC objects and the Saguaro Astronomy Club’s best NGC objects. The chart is divided into 45 pages by constellation with a map of the objects. Each object is labeled on the map using a Telrad circle drawing. The map shows stars to 6th magnitude. The standard 4*, 2* and 0.5* circles are used to place the object within the star field. Just star hop between objects. Below each map is a list of the objects, the object type (globular cluster, emission nebula etc) a description of the object, magnitude, size, RA and Dec. Very well designed. It is fully laminated so dew won’t be a problem. I liked this chart enough that I also bought the Messier Objects chart and the Globular Clusters in the Milky Way Galaxy chart. They are all a “must have” if you enjoy searching and observing the night sky with a Telrad finder. Highly recommended!
