Manufacturer Description
New stock - Eyepiece is Argon purged (not Nitrogen purged as shown in the above photo).
Using advanced computer design, combinations of low dispersion and high refractive index optical glasses, and durable multilayer deposition coatings, Explore Scientific 82° Series extreme wide field eyepieces are optimized to produce high contrast, high resolution, and superior flat field characteristics. The visual effect of these eyepieces with their long eye-relief and their 82° apparent field is truly a full-immersion experience. Your eye is relaxed, allowing you to easily use the "averted vision" technique to study faint details across a huge field-of-view.
Each eyepiece is meticulously assembled into precision machined metal lens barrels that maintain the perfect alignment of the optical train for years of rugged use in the field. The 82° Series eyepieces come with a twist-up rubber eye-guard that raise to the desired height for the comfort of the observer, and as experienced astronomers know, eye comfort is critical when trying to observe at the visual limits of the telescope.
To keep internal reflections to a minimum, all internal surfaces of the eyepiece barrel are flat black, as well as the edges of the lenses themselves to minimize the scattering of light within the lenses themselves.
Explore Scientific's eyepieces are backed with their exclusive Explore STAR Transferrable Extended Life of the Product Warranty. Limited Warranty is one year, which converts to the Explore STAR Transferrable Extended Life of the Product Warranty when product is registered within 60 days of purchase. We think that you will find Explore Scientific eyepieces rank among the finest obtainable and represent an outstanding value.

Nov 13, 2017Nice
Pros: Cons: Comments:Using with f/7 Explore Scientifc Triplet APO, giving 50x. Now that I'm no longer a beginner, I use nothing but Explore Scientifc products. Premium gear at non-premium prices. Go team ES!

May 18, 2017Awesome to me.
Pros: Cons: Comments:I received my Teeters f 4.5 15 inch dobsonian #163 in their scope log in January of this year. I purchased the 8.8, the 11, and the 14 mm 82 degree eyepieces a few weeks ago.I already had the 18, 24, and 30mm. Now I'm far from being an expert on things like evaluating eyepieces, but to me,it don't get any better.I also bought the 2" focal extender. I'm a very happy star gazer. Buying anything from Agena Astro is also very easy. And ya gotta love the free shipping. John P. Kapler

Apr 29, 2017Excellent Eyepiece!
Pros: Cons: Comments:I have not had a chance to use it yet, but I have two additional ES eyepieces, which is why I ordered a third. I have the 20mm and 8.8mm and they are excellent. They provide nice wide views, are not overly-heavy, and are the two I use the most. I need some in between EPs and am starting with the 14mm. I consider one when they are on sale, so it is a slow-growing collection. The wide views are the best, and what I look for the most. They are also reasonably priced, and are replacing more budget-minded Plossels.

Oct 9, 2016I would definitely buy this product again
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Compact,Accurate
Cons: Comments:This is a very good quality eyepiece. Feels very sturdy. In particular, I use it with my PST Coronado h-alpha telescope and obtain better results that the included with the PST 20mm cheap eyepiece.

Jun 26, 201514mm ES 82 deg... Filling the gap.
Pros:Strong Construction,Quality Lenses,Accurate,Easy to Use,Compact
Cons: Comments:I have the complete line of ES 82 deg eyepieces from 4.7mm thru 24mm, and this was the last one to fill the "gap".
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I'm an avid DSO hunter and routinely use the 24mm & 18mm (best of the line) to locate dim targets in a 10" Dob and ES AR152. I often "add power" to enhance objects, and increase the contrast. This EP replaced a Baader Hyperion 13mm in my process.
The EP performs well and the 82 degree AFOV needs to be experienced to be believed.
I only gave it four stars though, as it is the "weakest" overall in the line. That's not to say it is not a great eyepiece, just not quite the performer that others are.
Actually, if there were 4.7 stars as an option, that would get my "vote".
As usual, the crew at Agena delivered the product well-packed and on-time. They're simply the best.
I recommend this eyepiece to anyone seeking a focal length of 14mm.This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Jan 25, 2014Great EP!
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:This is an excellent EP that provides very sharp, "wider" field images from edge to edge. Extremely well made....has the look and "feel" of a high end quality EP. If I HAD to come up with a "con" for this EP, it would be the rather stiff rubber eye-cup, but REALLY ?? If you are looking for a wide field EP in this focal length range....GET THIS....You will not regret it!

Dec 1, 2013One of my favorite ES eyepices
Pros:Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:As the title states, this is one of my favorite f/l in the 82 degree series. I was hesitant at first as I read that other users have had correction issues at the edge of the field on fast scopes. But I've run it on a fast (f6) 100mm APO, and I see no such aberration: razor sharp, and star pinpoints right to the edge in my scope!! This is my favorite EP for the Perseus Double Cluster. Highly recommended!

Sep 30, 2013All round eyepiece
Pros:Strong Construction,Easy to Use,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:Great eyepiece. One of the most all round eye pieces I use. Fits one of my best nebula in full views ...ORION. THANK YOU FOR A WELL MADE EYE PIECE.

Sep 28, 2013Superb build and optical quality
Pros:Accurate,Compact,Quality Lenses,Lightweight,Easy to Use,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Massively well corrected optics and built like a little tank, and waterproof(within limits). Clearly designed to compete with competitors that are much more expensive. I think this unit is an ideal entry in the 82 degree field of view world. Would warmly recommend to starters and professionals alike.

Mar 27, 2013Great EP from Explore Scientific
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:The ES82* series are a tremendous value offering some nice wide views at an amazing price. I own several of this line and the 14mm performs great in my 10" dob. Crisp views with quality construction. Thanks Agena!

Feb 9, 2013Wonderful Eyepiece
Pros:Strong Construction,Lightweight,Quality Lenses,Compact
Cons: Comments:The Explore Scientific 82 degree eyepieces are fantastic. Views are sharp to the edge, if you can find the edge. The 82 degree is a very wide field of view that gives exceptional views of globular clusters as well as smaller nebula. In short it's a wonderful eyepiece for the price and I don't plan on parting with anytime soon.

Dec 4, 2012Exactly what I needed
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Bought this eyepiece primarily for use in a 8 inch f/5.9 dobsonian, already have quality 20mm and 12.5mm eyepieces, these with narrow field, I needed something between these and with a wider apparent field of view to use for Deep Space Objects
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Waterproof quality is a real deal for me, living in a humid place and far from lens maintenance services the waterprof-inert gas seal of the eyepiece assure there will no moisure or fungus on the inner elements for years to come, while on the external surfaces of the lens I could do the maintenance myself. Have read mixed reviews about this eyepiece before buy, some said it was a favourite, most used eyepiece, while in other places there were reports of field curvature.
Passed the usual clouds period after the purchase could do a first light in a clean dark sky. Most of the observing were using a 35mm eyepiece as a finder and switching to the explore scientific 14mm 82This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
