Manufacturer Description
Using advanced computer design, combinations of low dispersion and high refractive index optical glasses, and durable multilayer deposition coatings, Explore Scientific 82° Series extreme wide field eyepieces are optimized to produce high contrast, high resolution, and superior flat field characteristics. The visual effect of these eyepieces with their long eye-relief and their 82° apparent field is truly a full-immersion experience. Your eye is relaxed, allowing you to easily use the "averted vision" technique to study faint details across a huge field-of-view.
Each eyepiece is meticulously assembled into precision machined metal lens barrels that maintain the perfect alignment of the optical train for years of rugged use in the field. The 82° Series eyepieces come with a twist-up rubber eye-guard that raise to the desired height for the comfort of the observer, and as experienced astronomers know, eye comfort is critical when trying to observe at the visual limits of the telescope.
To keep internal reflections to a minimum, all internal surfaces of the eyepiece barrel are flat black, as well as the edges of the lenses themselves to minimize the scattering of light within the lenses themselves.
Explore Scientific's eyepieces are backed with their exclusive Explore STAR Transferrable Extended Life of the Product Warranty. Limited Warranty is one year, which converts to the Explore STAR Transferrable Extended Life of the Product Warranty when product is registered within 60 days of purchase. We think that you will find Explore Scientific eyepieces rank among the finest obtainable and represent an outstanding value.

Sep 8, 2017ES 4.7mm Eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:I used this eyepiece with an AR150 and found it to compliment the telescope with incredible detail (no filter or barlow). I viewed the moon and I am impressed with the sharp images of craters and mountains. Viewing Venus low in the sky, the planet was clear and rounded with the surrounding stars pinpoint. Switching to Orion Nebula the clouds moved across the image but the four stars in the Trapezium remained viewable enough to focus in on. As the image cleared the detail and sharpness

was fantastic. Optics are clean and clear making it well worth having. As always with their superior service, Agena delivered quickly and with the complimentary container. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jul 2, 2015Great View
Pros:Easy to Use,Lightweight,Accurate,Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Compact
Cons:Difficult To Focus
Comments:I use this for deep sky viewing. Nice detail. Must have pristine conditions in order to use. Great value. Being an amateur, I am not able to tell the difference from the much more expensive ones.

Mar 28, 2014Great high-powered eyepiece
Pros:Quality Lenses,Well-built,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Great eyepiece if viewing conditions are outstanding. I have had two such instances when I could use it in my 10" f4.7 Dob. Views of Jupiter and the Moon were great. Six stars in the Trapezium.

Jan 22, 2014Nice little eyepiece in a fast scope...
Pros:Accurate,Strong Construction,Lightweight,Quality Lenses,Compact
Cons:Very Short Eye Relief
Comments:Excellent correction in a fast scope, but lacking a lot in eye relief. If short eye relief does not bother you, this eyepiece is corrected perfectly in a fast 10" F/4.7 reflector showing pin-point stars right to the edges. Clarity & transmission is good also.

Sep 28, 2013Fantastic quality for the price
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I use this eyepiece all the time. My telescope is a 150mm Sky-Watcher with 750mm Focal length. I therefore need to maximise the magnification when viewing Saturn and Jupiter. This eyepiece does the job whilst maintaining a wide field of view. Beats looking through a pin hole.

Jun 22, 2013For the money, a good EP.
Pros:Lightweight,Easy to Use,Quality Lenses
Cons:Gets Little Soft At Edges
Comments:I use this product for visual astronomy. Have not used it yet for imaging. For the money, this is a value item. Sure, with that FOV, it does get a little soft at the edges, but this doesn't cost $1k!!! If you're a perfectionist, buy the latter, but at what you get at the price paid, this is a good EP.

Feb 8, 2013ES 4.7mm Eyepiece
Pros:Strong Construction,Excellent value,Accurate,Easy to Use,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:For my use on my 5" refractor this Explore Scientific eyepiece was excellent. Detail and contrast on Jupiter was very good at 250X. I had gone thru many other eyepieces before I found this one.
