A number of Explore Scientific's eyepieces are packed in heavy, oversized boxes. These end up significantly increasing shipping costs, especially for international customers. A few eyepieces, such as this one, weigh over 4 lbs when shipped, with the result that we cannot use the cheaper First Class shipping method for international shipments.

Due to requests from several international customers, we are now offering some of these eyepieces WITHOUT the original box. The eyepiece will be shipped in the protective plastic bolt case that we include with this eyepiece. With this, the shipped weight is significantly reduced and you can now opt for First Class shipping during checkout (or slightly cheaper Priority or Express Mail shipping). These eyepieces are brand new with full manufacturer's US warranty - you just won't get the original cardboard box if you buy this item.

      4.0 It's pretty much the only choice.

      This is pretty much the only choice for reticle eyepieces and for finder scopes. And it is only available here. I did purchase another brand a while back that had a flashing feature but it was big, bulky, and broke after first use.

      It would be nice for these things to turn off automatically after a few hours of non use. I just can't seem to remember to turn them off and I'm always replacing batteries.
