Manufacturer Description
Using advanced computer design, combinations of low dispersion and high refractive index optical glasses, and durable multilayer deposition coatings, Explore Scientific 82° Series extreme wide field eyepieces are optimized to produce high contrast, high resolution, and superior flat field characteristics. The visual effect of these eyepieces with their long eye-relief and their 82° apparent field is truly a full-immersion experience. Your eye is relaxed, allowing you to easily use the "averted vision" technique to study faint details across a huge field-of-view.
Each eyepiece is meticulously assembled into precision machined metal lens barrels that maintain the perfect alignment of the optical train for years of rugged use in the field. The 82° Series eyepieces come with a twist-up rubber eye-guard that raise to the desired height for the comfort of the observer, and as experienced astronomers know, eye comfort is critical when trying to observe at the visual limits of the telescope.
To keep internal reflections to a minimum, all internal surfaces of the eyepiece barrel are flat black, as well as the edges of the lenses themselves to minimize the scattering of light within the lenses themselves.
Explore Scientific's eyepieces are backed with their exclusive Explore STAR Transferrable Extended Life of the Product Warranty. Limited Warranty is one year, which converts to the Explore STAR Transferrable Extended Life of the Product Warranty when product is registered within 60 days of purchase. We think that you will find Explore Scientific eyepieces rank among the finest obtainable and represent an outstanding value.

I have not used an
Pros: Cons: Comments:I have not used an eyepiece with better sharpness and contrast. The 82 degree apparent FOV seems to be the right range. I have read complaints about 82 degrees being too much, but in my opinion the few degrees extra give the peripheral vision something to do. That little extra is invaluable when locating objects. Given the cost, the ES 82 degree series eyepieces are the ones to buy.

Apr 19, 2014Money well spent
Pros:Quality Lenses,Comfortable Eyepiece,Strong Construction
Cons:Heavy
Comments:I'm an amateur astronomer, when I'm not photographing, I can spend long hours just viewing.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
This eyepiece with its large FOV and Long eye relief make for a comfortable long session of visual astronomy. Stars appear as fine pin-pricks, images are super clear.
I sometimes worry about the eyepiece falling out due to the weight when the scope slews to the opposite side of the night sky. Just make sure the eyepiece slot screws are nice and tight.
Haven't used other eyepieces for a while, very good value for the cost and highly recommended. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Oct 1, 2013ES 2" 24mm 82
Pros:Easy to Use,Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons:Heavy
Comments:This thing is larger than the grenades that I tossed in basic training many decades ago!!!! But it is one heck of an eyepiece. Gives great views, good eye relief, sharp with great constrast. Works great in my F/10 scopes. I use it as a finder eyepiece and it does that function just great. It's built like a tank, very sturdy and well built. You can't go wrong with this one.

Jun 9, 2013A great and good eyepiece.
Pros:Many
Cons:Double Image,Heavy
Comments:"Problems":
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
- big size and heavy.
- double image at low magnification in bright objects (moon & planets).
Small problems for a good eyepiece. I recommend it.This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
May 30, 2013Exceeded expectations
Pros:Quality Lenses
Cons:Heavy
Comments:I am very happy with the purchase of the 82 degree 24mm Explore Scientific eyepiece. It has a wide field of view and is very sharp to quite near the field edge. I think that this series of eyepieces probably represent one of the great values of amateur astronomy: premium performance at moderate price.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I use the eyepiece for deep sky object astronomical viewing in my 10" dobsonian telescope. I find that it is great as both a "finder" eyepiece (due to its wide field of view), but also as a low power workhorse eyepiece. The best things about the eyepiece are its overall quality of build and optical performance. The worst thing is probably its size and weight. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Oct 17, 2012Excellent Eyepiece
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This is a fantastic eyepiece with a very high quality build (on par with Televue). Just had it out in my f5 dob (with a Paracorr) and stars are beautiful pinpoints across the entire wide field. Great service from Agena as always.
