A non-obstructive quick-release stud is screwed into the binocular's attachment hole and left permanently in place. Extra studs can be purchased for each set of binoculars you wish to use with the FAR-Sight.

To attach your binoculars to the FAR-Sight, simply insert the mounting stud into the keyhole slot and...

Swing the safety lock into place.

Attach your favorite red-dot finder and you are ready to observe. When you are done observing, breakdown is a snap. Lift the safety catch and lift upward on the binoculars to unseat the quick-release mechanism. Leave your red-dot finder attached to the FAR-Sight for your next observing session

Farsight
Pros: Cons: Comments:Excellent binocular support, very rigid and sturdy. Snap on attachment for bino is the most important feature although a little difficult to mount bino in slot. The only thing on the bino is the little screw fitting, so nothing to disassemble when you put bino away in case. I mounted Celestron red dot finder on top fitting--just take finder out of box and slide it on.

Aug 8, 2017Elegant solution
Pros: Cons: Comments:An elegant implementation of the binocular bracket. Other brackets must be screwed into the bino each time ... either that or leave it hanging off the bino when you're not using a tripod, catching on things. With this Farpoint bracket, only the stud remains with the bino, out of sight, out of the way. Instead of buying another bracket for another pair of binos, you just buy another stud. It works perfectly, great gear.

Jun 29, 2012Gets job done
Pros: Cons: Comments:The ability to attach a Red Dot Finder is very useful (for 20x binos with sorta narrow FOV), and was my main reason for buying this bracket. The mounting stud is quite handy, and basically works well, but with the binoculars mounted, there is a moderate amount of loose play between the bracket and the stud (roll, pitch, AND yaw) which is annoying. Also, despite its fairly sturdy appearance, the bracket bends easily at the top corner, which throws the RDF mounting surface out of alignment. (I could imagine a salesperson saying this "feature" lets you "collimate" the RDF with the binocular...) If you're not too rough on the bracket, this probably won't be much of a practical problem - it just seems a little chintzy. (Mine arrived bent after shipping). Overall, this is a decent product, and gets the job done, but the above issues detract from its overall quality.
