Manufacturer Description

GSO's Super-Plossl eyepieces have been some of our most popular sellers over the years. Users will experience incredible views without breaking the bank or impinging on your telescope's balance. They represent what is perhaps the best buy today for astronomers on a budget or for beginners. But don't be fooled by their low prices - these might well turn out to be all the eyepieces you will ever need!

The GSO Super-Plossls are available in a 1.25" barrel size and 9 different focal lengths ranging from 4mm to 40mm. The 4mm, 6mm and 9mm models are great for high power planetary and lunar observation.  The 12mm and 15mm are perfect intermediate focal lengths, performing well on both deep-sky and planetary subjects.  The 20mm and 25mm models would be excellent choices for low power scanning of open star clusters and viewing larger galaxies. The 32mm and 40mm models offer a wide field and are superb for wide field scanning, detailed observations of large diffuse subjects or as a finder eyepiece.

Features:
- All eyepieces are fully multicoated (FMC) for maximum light transmission
- High quality lenses provide the best-possible sharpness all over the field of view
- Blackened lens edges reduce light scattering and improve contrast
- Fold-down rubber eyecups to keep out stray light
- Comfortable eye relief at all but the shortest focal lengths (As in all Plossl eyepieces, eye relief can get tight at the shorter focal lengths but this is design constraint, not a fault of these eyepieces)
- Includes two end caps

      5.0 A.W.

      Pros:

      Cons:

      Comments:

I like this EP better than some I own, that cost much more. Especially if your scope is f8 or slower, its hard to find a sharper, crisper image. I use mine on an Orion XT6, 6" f/8.

4.0 Excellent for the budget conscious.

      Pros:

      Accurate,Strong Construction,Quality Lenses

      Cons:

      None

      Comments:

I bought a couple GSO eyepieces to complete a set. I am a novice when it comes to Astronomy, but I can say that these eyepieces and Agena Astro came highly recommended. I was able to focus on targets easily and the view was very clear. If you are on a budget but want quality I can easily recommend this and other GSO eyepieces.

      Pros:

      Compact,Accurate,Strong Construction,Quality Lenses

      Cons:

      Comments:

You know the old saying "you get what you pay for" well in this case you get more. GSO plossl eyepieces are as good as any on the market only cheaper. I will buy from Agena Astro again in the future.

      5.0 Best Inexpensive plossl

      Pros:

      Good construction,Low price,High Contrast

      Cons:

      None

      Comments:

This is the best value in plossl eyepieces that I've found. They come with a nice bolt case and have full multi-coatings. Eye relief is good for the 15mm. I use this one for my PST and it gives very sharp images of solar prominences and granulation. These are a slight step above the Orion Sirius and Celestron plossls that I've used, and at a better price!

4.0 Great eyepiece for the money!

      Pros:

Fully multi-coated,Decent eye relief,Blackened lens edges

      Cons:

      None

      Comments:

The 15mm GSO Super plossl is a good medium power eyepiece with nice sharp views. I have 2 Orion Sirius plossl EPs, the 10 and the 25mm and I can tell you that the GSO Super Plossl EPs are a step above them. The GSOs are fully multi-coated with blackened edges also with security recess barrels. Being a machinist I can say that the diameters of the barrels are machined with close tolerances and fit my diagonal with a feel of quality. As for eye relief the GSOs have more than either the Sirius or the Highlights on any given eyepiece ... my 15mm GSO has as much eye relief as the 20mm Orion Highlight and my 4mm GSO has more than the 7.5mm Orion highlight. Oh yeah, let's not forget the price so maybe just try one.

3.0 Good, solid eyepiece at very fair price

      Pros:

      Good quality

      Cons:

      None

      Comments:

This is a great plossl for the money, virtually the same as the Orion Sirius plossls. Bright and clear with decent eye-relief, a flat field and good correction to the edge of the field. This is why plossls are the standard eyepiece of today. If you like the eyepieces that came with your Orion scope this is a great way to round out your collection.

3.0 A good, solid eyepiece for a very fair price.

      Pros:

      Good quality, Good price

None that are not specific to the plossl design
