Do you have a 2" GSO SCT diagonal (standard, dielectric or quartz) that you want to use with a refractor but cannot? Here is the solution you need! You can simply unscrew the SCT adapter on the telescope end of your GSO SCT diagonal. Then insert this barrel in its place and you can now use your SCT diagonal in 2" refractor focusers.
This adapter has a standard SCT male thread (2", 24 TPI) to connect to the GSO diagonal body on one side. The other (telescope) side has a standard 48mm (M48 x 0.75) female thread so it can accept 2" astronomy filters. The barrel is made of aluminum and the inside is threaded and painted flat black to minimize internal reflections.
This adapter will work with the following diagonals:
- All 2" GSO diagonals
- Some 2" diagonals made by GSO for Celestron, Antares, Burgess, SmartAstronomy, TS (Germany), OPT, and others
This adapter will not work directly with the following diagonals:
- All William Optics diagonals
- Many other Meade, Celestron, Antares and other diagonals
There is no standardization in the astronomy industry for the threads used on diagonal bodies. Hence, do not assume that this adapter will work with your diagonal. Please check the thread on your diagonal body before ordering this item - we do not have compatibility information for all the diagonals out there.

Choosing the right adapter
Pros: Cons: Comments:If you are looking at the this adapter, then you are probably trying to retrofit an existing telescope. Make sure you pay attention to the thread pitches and diameter, the actual outside diameter of the nosepiece, the length of the nosepiece and the placement of the “safety groove”. The locking screw of my refractor’s focusing tube was landing on the shoulder of the “safety groove” which meant going with the “no safety groove” version of this adapter.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
If this is the right adapter for you then I would say it is an excellent choice. The adapter is well made with a fine finish. The inside diameter of my telescope’s focusing tube is two inches measured to within two thousandths of an inch. The outside diameter of the adapter’s nosepiece is less than this by only a few thousandth’s of an inch, which I find to be perfect.This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com

Sep 26, 2015Worked great with Orion 2 inch SCT Diagonal
Pros:Easy to Use,Well machined
Cons: Comments:I added it to an Orion 2" SCT Diagonal. I had a spot of trouble getting the SCT nosepiece off. I put it in the warm desert sun for about 30 minutes and it came apart easily. The refractor nosepiece was very well machined and screwed in smoothly. It easily tightened up enough to keep the diagonal from rotating about the nosepiece. It slid effortlessly into my GSO 2" refractor focuser but without a lot of slop or play. The inside of the nosepiece is threaded for two inch filters and is nice and black on the inside.

Aug 23, 2014Fits my Revelation 2" SCT diagonal
Pros:Easy to Use,Lightweight,Strong Construction,Accurate
Cons: Comments:I ordered this in Aug 2014 so that I could turn my very recently bought-from-new Revelation 2" Quartz SCT diagonal into a refractor diagonal (my Revelation diagonal is a GSO item rebranded, I am almost certain of that). The Chrome barrel arrived promptly from Agena in USA (I am in England) and I tried it and it fits great into my Relevation diagonal. When my diagonal first arrived it was impossible to remove the SCT nose piece from it with just my hands. I simply put the diagonal onto my Meade 7" Maksutov and was then able to fairly easily unscrew the SCT part off the diagonal. Then I screwed on this GSO 2" Chrome barrel, it screws on easily and accurately with no binding or problems. It holds on as tightly as you want with no issues. All ready for trying with my Meade SN102 (DS2102 / StarNavigator 102), I now need the 2" adapter ring (which Meade does not include) to make my SN102 compatible with 2" eyepieces. Other refractors with 2" eyepiece compatibility would need no other parts and it just pushes straight into a 2" focusser. Recommended.

Cons: Comments:I had purchased a GSO 2" Diagonal with a direct connect adapter for my C8 to minmize back focus distance and retired my big Crayford focuser.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
However, I later upgraded to an Ultima 11 with greater back focus distance and resurrected my Crayford focuser...but what to do about the Diagonal?
Agena presented to me this inexpensive GSO optional refractor barrell and it worked great.

Cons: Comments:I purchased this to convert my GSO SCT diagonal to a refractor type diagonal. This increases the nosepiece opening by several millimeters allowing unvignetted use of eyepieces with very large field stops.

Cons: Comments:I recently purchased a WO erect image 2 inch diagonal for my refractor from Agena. The WO threads also fit my optics pro diagonals but not my orion 2 inch sct diagonals. So I ordered a GSO chrome barrel and found they fit perfectly. The quality is excellent and I saved a bunch of money not having to purchase another diagonal. I can now easily use one diagonal for both scopes.

Pros:Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Just purchased a nice refractor with a 2" focuser. The only 2" diagonal I had was a nice GSO enhanced coating SCT version for my LX10. By purchasing the GSO chrome barrel my diagonal now works on both scopes. You just have to unscrew the SCT nosing on the diagonal then screw in the GSO barrel. Takes about 10 seconds. Quality construction. Saved me money too.

Cons: Comments:I was not sure if this would fit my Orion ED80, but a quick e-mail to Agena prompted a quick response back that assured it would.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The inside is coated in flat black so there are no reflections. It is very sturdy and has a nice tight fit.
I put a lot of weight on it (focal reducer, diagonal, spacer, filters, and camera) and it does not wiggle at all. Thus, there is no flexure in the system.
