Knight Owl 15mm Ultra-wide 80 degree
Pros:Nice construction; Fully multi-coated lenses; Inexpensive.
Cons:Some color fringing.
Comments:I've bought a couple of items from this web vendor and have been quite pleased with their products. So I decided to try one of their 15mm Ultra-wide, 80 degree, 2" eyepieces. The ocular I suspected was made in China, and in no way could compete head to head with the "Big Boys".
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The eyepiece has nice construction, its a 6 element design and the optics are said to be fully-multicoated, with an 80 degree FOV and 20mm eye relief. Daytime terrestrial viewing was sharp and contrast was good, but I did detect some blue fringing around the outer perimeter of the FOV. However, I didn't find this objectionable when viewing night time targets. Stars were sharp and the views were very nice out to the last 10% of the field.
If you don't expect Nagler performance from this economy eyepiece, it can do a very nice job at presenting clusters and nebulae.Sort by
