Also known as the Horsehead Nebula filter, the Lumicon 1.25in Hydrogen-Beta Filter isolates only the hydrogen-beta line of the spectrum (486nm) in a narrow pass-band just 9 nm wide, providing maximum contrast. Now you can view extremely faint nebulous objects such as the Horsehead, Cocoon and California Nebulae. In many cases, the Lumicon Hydrogen-Beta Filter is the ONLY way to view these objects. Recommended for 8" or larger telescopes.
To ensure that your Lumicon filter remains the World's Best, the strictest quality control standards are employed throughout the production process. Each Lumicon Hydrogen - Beta Filter is individually inspected and proudly inscribed with the percentage of light transmittance of the H-Beta emission line.

Strong Construction,Compact,Easy to Use,Lightweight,AccurateCons:
I tried this on the Horsehead Nebula and just got a glimpse of it, but the seeing was not good. Without it I could not see anything at all. Wil try again on a better night.

Lumicon H-Beta FilterPros:
Strong Construction,Quality Lenses,AccurateCons: Comments:
I have used this filter to observe the Horsehead nebula in a dark sky. Wasn't visible without it.
It does take some observing work though as study is needed to eventually make out the outline of the nebula.

Lumicon Hydrogen-Beta Filter 1.25"Pros:
Works great on a few nebulas, without it you just can get the image!!Cons:
It's a great filter for a "few" nebulas!!Comments:
Another fine Lumicon filter!! This has shown me the horse head nebula and a few others! Not the most used by me but each filter does its own thing! This one is the only way to view the horse head nebula.
H-BETA best on 14 nebulae, second best on 2 nebulae.
*NOT* recommended on 39 nebulae!
TOTAL 1st and 2nd RECOMMENDATIONS for H-Beta: 16 objects.Sort by
