Manufacturer Description
Lumicon's Night Sky Hydrogen-Alpha Filters are long-pass filters with a 50% transition from blocking to passing at about 640nm. At wavelengths longer than 650nm, transmittance is 90% or above. The filter is used as an extreme anti light-pollution filter, and for contrast-enhancement of emission nebulae and other astronomical objects bright in the infrared.
The LF3085, 1.25" Night Sky Hydrogen-Alpha Filter, threads into the nose-piece of industry-standard 1.25" Digital Imagers.

Great with Night Vision
Pros: Cons: Comments:This is a great filter for moderate light polluted skies and a night vision device. I use this with my PVS-7 and it cuts a lot of light pollution, darkens the background, and still allows nebula to be seen. A great addition to a 7nm Ha filter and a 685nm long pass kit.

Apr 28, 2018Excellent Deep Sky Tool
Pros: Cons: Comments:I use this H-alpha for visual astronomy, since it passes everything from H-alpha to the IR spectrum. The increased contrast resulting from blocking everything below H-alpha is a refreshing view!

May 11, 20142" Lumicon Ha Filter
Pros:Quality Lenses,Strong Construction,Compact,Easy to Use
Cons:Difficult To Focus
Comments:I bought this along with the Hotech SCA Field Flattener to use on my f/6 102mm ED refractor. This is a wider pass than some of the more expensive ones out there, but does a very nice job of picking up the emissions. I used it last night to add 2 hours of Ha to an M51 image I'm working on!
