Meade Zero Image Shift-Electronic Micro-Focuser #07080 for the Meade LX200-ACF and Meade LS models. This high precision, ultra smooth focuser allows you to obtain an extremely accurate image focus. Perfect for astrophotography or during high power planetary observation. Focus is controlled through the existing Autostar II or Autostar III handbox of the telescope. This very high quality accessory securely mounts to a thread-on type adapter (included) to the rear of your telescope. The diagonal or camera (not included) then inserts into the microfocuser which has approximately 1/2 inch of travel. Coarse focus is achieved conventionally through the telescopes focus knob. The Microfocuser is then used to achieve a more precisely focused image via the keypad, without image shift or shake.
Includes focuser with adapters for the rear of any Meade LX200-ACF or LS model telescope and cord to plug into the focuser port of the telescope. This focuser is also compatible with LX200GPS models. Not compatible with LX200 "Classic" or Meade LX90 models.

No more focus shakes

Comments:I have one on a LS-8 and it's made observing much more enjoyable. There are 9 speeds available through the handset through I tend to only use the 3 lowest speeds. There's only about 1/2 inch travel in the unit so you center the travel when you first start the night. This ensures you have the same amount of movement both inside and outside focus. You first reach coarse focus with the stock focus knob then use the handset to creep into a perfect focus. Because you don't touch the telescope, there's no focus shake or wobble. It makes high power viewing so much easier.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
You mount it by threading a ring onto the visual back. Then the focuser is slipped onto the ring and secured using three hex screws spaced 120 degrees apart. There's not much room to turn the hex key so you should be careful not to scratch anything when you install it. You plug the unit into the focus port on the scope base. Then press the focus button on the handset and use the left/right arrows to move in/out of focus.
It is a bit expensive but if you want to get perfectly focused views at high magnifications this will save you a lot of time and frustration. You'll be able to 'pop' the objects into focus in seconds with no shake. This should be your first upgrade to your scope in my opinion.
