Meade DS2090AT/TC
Pros:Good Price, Good Images, Good Accessories, Great Goto, Light Weight, Simple Setup.
Cons:Plastic focuser with a lot of slop, Plastic red dot finder which breaks easily!
Comments:I bought this Meade DS2090AT Telescope on Ebay for $110. It came with 5 1.25" MA eyepieces (25,20,17,12,6mm) all in a nice eyepiece case. The Go-to gets the target in the 12mm EP after you train the drives and do the easy alignment process. It's a very simple mount to work and I can use rechargeable AA batteries for 3 sessions, so its not really a power hog! Also the Alt/Az mount came with the #497 handbox to which you can download updates and firmware. Also comes with a compass/bubble level to get the mount ready for the alignment!
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
All in all, it's a nice scope for someone new to astronomy or someone like me that is just getting back in the hobby on a tight budget! I don't know how the mount is for astro imaging yet but it tracks Saturn in the 12mm eyepiece for over an hour!Sort by
