Manufacturer Description
Meade Series 4000 #3200 Lunar And Planetary Color Filter Set #07544.
Meade Series 4000 Color Filters permit observation and photography of planetary surface detail that is often virtually invisible without filtration. Choose the filter or filter set that best meet your needs and see what you have been missing! Use filters individually or stacked to achieve selective filtration of the visual color spectrum.
Manufactured from the finest optical glass, each filter has its color spectrum dyed into the glass instead of being done with inferior color coatings. All filters are anti-reflection coated on both sides of the glass for the highest performance. The filters have a clear aperture of 26mm and are threaded for and compatible with all standard 1.25" telescope eyepieces. The filters can also be stacked with each other. Each Series 4000 Filter is packed in a foam-fitted plastic case for secure long-term storage.
Color filters are considered by many to be an essential "must have" for observing and imaging the Moon and planets. The Model 3200 Lunar and Planetary Filter Set includes the following filters*:
Light Yellow - Useful in observing red and orange-colored phenomena in the belts of Jupiter, and in enhancing the level of observable detail of small orange-reg zonal features withing the belts of the planet. A popular filter for the enhancement of lunar features. Similar to # 12 filter sold by others.
Light Red / Orange - Reduces or blocks transmission of blue-green wavelenghts, increases contrast, and enhances marginal blue-green surface detail. Use on Jupiter and Saturn to enhance details in the belts and polar regions. Increases contrast between Mercury and bright blue sky during daylight and twilight observations. Best for larger telescopes due to restricted transmission. Similar to # 21 filter sold by others.
Light Blue - Useful for observing the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, this subtle pale blue filter enhances areas of low contrast, while avoiding significant reduction of overall image brightness. Similar to # 80A filter sold by others.
Moon Filter ND96 - This neutral density filter transmits uniformly across the entire visible spectrum. It reduces the glare and irradiation that can plague lunar observations. It may also be employed to split close double stars in cases where one of the binary pair significantly exceeds the other in brightness. We estimate the transmission of this filter to be in the 40-45% range.
Product carries full one year Meade factory limited warranty (within US/Canada only).
* Please note: Meade modifies the contents, photos, and descriptions of the individual filters included in this package from time to time.
