      3.0 8" f/6 starfinder eq on a pier mount

      Pros:

      Clear sharp views! Easy to transport! Tracking drive for either 120volt or 12volt tracks great

      Cons:

      No polar scope! Hard to find OEM parts for!

      Comments:

      I have owned two of these Meade Starfinder 8" f/6 eq on a pier mount! The first was the 70's model with a 120volt r/a drive! Simple to use and tracked very well, as the same with the 97 model starfinder eq on a pier mount except the 97 model has a 12volt r/a drive and the option for the Meade Magellan encoder system! Even for a telescope that weights almost 70 lbs I had no trouble packing them around! It's easy to take apart the main pieces to transport!! The views with the Meade optics were great!! Deep sky objects were easily put in the eyepiece and its almost like the optical tube just floats on both axis!! And holds its collimation very well!!
