Nov 17, 2008My Oberwerk 12X60 Binoculars
Pros: Cons: Comments:I received as a birthday present a pair of Oberwerk 12 x 60 binoculars. The stats are: Bak4 prism, fully broadband multi-coated optics; FOV 5.5 degrees, with an exit pupil of 5mm and a min. focus of 15m. These binoculars are rubber coated and come with a soft case, straps and caps. These can be hand held for quite some time but for the best viewing I recommend a tripod/adapter setup. Excellent views to 75% then it falls off quickly; for some the fallout at 75% is too much, but the cost is worth it.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Jul 19, 2007Very nice views
Pros:Easy to collimate; great contrast; nice coatings
Cons:Other than being less than tack-sharp to the edge, I can't think of a thing.
Comments:I just don't think anyone could go wrong--for about the cost of an inexpensive eyepiece you get some very nice views. Relatively easy to hand hold for the size, though I recommend getting a tripod adapter. Easy to collimate. Smooth focusing. Great contrast. Nice coatings--I live in a light polluted area and have been surprised at what I'm able to see with these.
