ScopeStuff Eyepiece Barrel Extension- 1.25" Filter Threaded
Pros:Very versatile; Threaded for filters; Very inexpensive.
Cons:None.
Comments:This little piece of hardware helped bring my Burgess binoviewer into clear focus. The problem was I couldn't focus the unit when using a 1.6X compensator, not enough "in travel" on the C80ED focuser. I had been using an Orion lens assembly from a 2X Shorty Barlow with no problem. However, the 1.6x OCA combination was another matter.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I found the solution while reading Phil Harrington's,"Star Ware", 4th Edition. Phil mentioned the same problem, and noted that he solved this problem by adding a 1" barrel extension from ScopeStuff to the nose of the Burgess bino unit.....it worked! I was now able to focus my scope with no problem and had plenty of in travel to spare. This little nugget of info was worth the price of the book.
The eyepiece barrel extension was about $19 from ScopeStuff, which includes shipping, and delivery was super fast! Also, if you need more extension length, Phil advises using an empty glass filter ring to accomplish this objective.
Because of this small eyepiece extension, I'm able to go "space walking" with my binoviewer like never before. And, as a plus, you can use the extension on your 1.25" eyepiece barrel, and its threaded for filters!
This little barrel extension is worth adding to to your equipment arsenal.Sort by
