TEC 250 mm f/20 MC
Pros:Well crafted optics by the experts; Well crafted tube and accessories
Cons:Have Yuri at TEC try a more imaging wide-field unit like an f/7
Comments:Yuri Petrunin and his Telescope Engineering Company in Golden, Colorado have been developing some fine optics over the years. As I was looking for a planet, planetary viewing and imaging scope with near-refractor qualities, I decided on the f/20 MC at 250 mm diameter. Although the scope is collimated from the company, doing your own collimation is a breeze. You can attach any type of configuration of cameras and star diagonals and motorized focusers to its rear outlet.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
It takes a moderately large mount for doing imaging and the high power visual observing that you would be doing. Most of the time my visual observations are done with the Leica Zoom from APM giving me ~ 8mm to 14mm zoom. It is the sweet spot for this scope.
I have been nothing but very satisfied with this instrument.
Thanks,
