Tele Vue 1.25" Delos Eyepiece - 8mm
Tele Vue is pleased to introduce the Delos, mid-to-short focal length line of 20mm eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepieces. Every optical, mechanical, and ergonomic aspect was rethought to achieve reference-standard performance for any visual application.
The Delos was conceived as a narrower field Ethos. Reducing the field to 72° allowed freedom to increase eye-relief, while controlling pupil aberrations, all without making the eyepiece too large. With Ethos performance standards as benchmarks, the Delos design achieves full field sharpness, virtually perfect f θ (theta) distortion mapping, and color neutrality. Image fidelity is maximized utilizing glass matched multicoatings and anti-reflection surfaces throughout the eyepiece.
Contrast is further enhanced with a new, continuously adjustable height eyeguard system that can be locked in any position. Since the Delos eye-lens measures a quite large 35mm in diameter, preventing stray light from reflecting off the first surface and extraneous light from entering your eye pays off in a nice increase in perceived contrast. The eyeguard's sliding action allows for positioning the soft rubber eyeguard at the ideal height to suit the observer's preference. Indicator marks on the eyepiece body are handy reference guides for setting your perfect position. The eye-guard can also rotate for Dioptrx users.
All Tele Vue Delos eyepieces have proprietary tuned full multi-coatings, blackened lens edges, high index glasses, fold-down eyeguards, rubber grip rings, cover for the eyeguard, an undercut in the barrel for extra locking security, and filter threads. The Delos eyepieces are parfocal up to the focal length of 12mm within the series, and with several other TeleVue eyepieces. All Tele Vue eyepiece lines are proprietary, in-house designs manufactured to their specifications and tolerances. Every eyepiece is individually tested at Tele Vue to ensure it meets high optical and cosmetic standards.
Concept: "It was natural to take lessons learned from the tremendously successful Ethos project and apply it going forward. In the fall of 2008, Paul Dellechiaie was tasked to investigate a long eye-relief eyepiece design in the 70° AFOV range, retaining the key performance goals met with Ethos. My father named Paul's design, "Delos." Delos is a beautiful Greek island which happens to be the mythical birthplace of Apollo, god of light. More importantly the name was chosen to give recognition to Paul, principal designer of both Delos and Ethos." — David Nagler

Quality Eyepiece! Great Service!Pros: Cons: Comments:
I was not surprised at the excellent workmanship that went into this eyepiece. It is beautifully made and it performs as good as it looks. I like the adjustable eye relief. Stars are sharp and the backgrounds are darker than other expensive eyepieces I have used. This one is actually worth the price. Agena's service is always excellent. That's why I buy all my astronomy equipment from them!Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes

TV Delos 8mmPros: Cons: Comments:
This eyepiece is essentially flawless. It's completely clear. It is free of common TeleVue design quirks and construction flaws. The eyecup adjustment is very useful and works perfectly. It yields 262x, 1.5mm exit pupil and a 16 arc' FOV in my main scope. It (along with a 6mm Delos) put up unforgettably wonderful views of Saturn two nights ago, a few days after opposition. M22, M17, NGC4656 (Hockey Stick), the NGC5078/5101/IC874/879 complex, SN2017erp in N5861, and several planetary nebulae including, particularly, NGC6445 all showed fantastically in the 8 and 6mm Delos. The 8mm Delos is my most recent ep acquisition and completes the eyepiece kit very, very nicely.Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The Delos is also very useful for white light solar observing in a 4.5" refractor.

One of the best planetary eyepieces....!Pros:
Compact,Quality Lenses,Easy to Use,Accurate,Strong ConstructionCons: Comments:
This eyepiece gives me 150x in my scope. It gave me the best contrasty view of Jupiter last week. It has a good colour neutrality and noticeable contrast. I observed several DSOs with this eyepiece and I was very satisfied with the view.Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
It is not hard to adjust the eyecup to get the full field of the eyepiece. Just see through the eye lens by loosening the eyepiece house and adjust the hight of upper housing till you get the sharp field edge.
I wholeheartedly recommend this eyepiece to anyone who is willing to spend for the quality....!
