Televue Panoptic 15mm
Pros:Views, color, contrast - almost everything; perfect for planetary & lunar viewing.
Cons:Short on eye relief; expensive to some.
Comments:This is one superb eyepiece in either single eye mode or when used with a binoviewer. New cost is $210 from Televue. On the used market it runs from $150 to about $175.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
It provides excellent wide views with a typical 68 degree FOV. Eye relief is somewhat short at about 10mm, but if you view without glasses, it's just fine. You can just fold down the soft rubber eye-cup.
Planets show excellent color and contrast. Stars are pinpoint from edge to edge in my f/10 8" SCT. This eyepiece is a pleasure to view through. I would call the 15mm Panoptic the perfect mid-powered eyepiece regardless of the scope used. Very highly recommended.Sort by
