Great EP!!
Pros:Clear, precise, awesome
Cons:Where are they now?
Comments:We got one of these back in 95, glad we did. Its truly a life long friend...
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The views this lens offers are breathtaking. Crisp, clear, all the words that can describe a sharp view. A nice comfortable mag increase as well. With my mom's Meade 395 its pushing 76x, very nice. With my 8" Dob its hitting 92x and I find that perfect for deep space close up work.
If you can find one of these pick it up, you'll be glad you did.
Excellent craftsmanship (like all Tele Vue products imo).Sep 8, 2007TeleVue 13mm Plossl
Pros:Excellent light transmission, sharp contrasty views, barlows well.
Cons:Discontinued, rarely found on the used market.
Comments:This excellent eyepiece is one of the four Televue Plossls that are now discontinued. It is a shame as they are top of the line plossls. I use my 8" f/10 LX-90 SCT in reviewing most eyepieces I get lucky enough to view with. This 13mm is no exception.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
This eyepiece has very high light transmission and very sharp and contrasty views. Views of Jupiter and the four visible moons were sharp. Stars are also tack sharp and the Messier objects are just perfect and mostly completely viewed in the eyepiece. These barlow very well, but the barrel is smooth sided and you must lock these eyepieces in place with care, both in the barlow and diagonal. I also recommend using Orion's wing eye cup as this eyepiece does not include a rubber eye guard. Eye relief is a respectable 7mm and all glass surfaces are multi-coated. The FOV is a nice 50 degrees with four glass elements and TeleVue's excellent manufacturing. When found these are nice, less expensive eyepieces.Sort by
