Televue 21mm Plossl
Pros:Great manufacturing, glass; Televues hold their value.
Cons:Discontinued, but still around.
Comments:This is, I believe, a discontinued eyepiece from Televue that I had a chance to look through the other night. I must say it performed very well. I guess Televue discontinued this one when they introduced the 20mm Plossl. I could only see how it worked in my 8" f/10 LX-90 before having to give it back, but the views were excellent. Sharp to the edge, I saw no loss in contrast in viewing Jupiter or any of the Messier objects I found in the Southern sky. I don't know why it was discontinued, but this eyepiece works very well in my f/10 SCT. The specifications are: FOV 50 degrees, eye relief at 17mm, 4 glass elements and the weight is 0.3 pounds. This shows me that before the current range of Televue plossls, they still had some super glass and nice Japanese manufacturing. Also this eyepiece barlowed well in my Orion Shorty Plus barlow with Jupiter. This is one very nice eyepiece. If one turns up on the used market, buy it. All glass surfaces are multicoated (nice green tint).
