New from William Optics - 2" RotoLock Eyepiece Adapter Upgrade for most 2" William Optics Diagonals # D-ROTO-A2
The new RotoLock series of adapters from William Optics may well set the "gold' standard for visual backs and eyepiece adapters in the astronomy industry! Thoughtfully designed, exquisitely machined, and artfully presented, these adapters provide a very convenient and robust method to attach eyepieces and accessories to your telescope.
Just rotate the golden grip ring clockwise to lock any inserted accessory, or counter-clockwise to release the accessory. Innovative design ensures that you get a very solid hold and the accessory is perfectly centered every time. No thumbscrews to worry about! The internal ball bearings and detents that click every few degrees make this adapter a joy to use. The large, knurled grip ring is easy to grasp with gloves on as well.
This WO adapter # D-ROTO-A2 has a 2" eyepiece holder on one side and a special dovetail ring on the other side. This item can be used to upgrade most 2" William Optics diagonals that have a standard eyepiece holder with thumbscrews to a RotoLock diagonal.
Please note that this item:
- Cannot be used with 1.25" or hybrid William Optics diagonals, or diagonals from other manufacturers
- Requires you to open up significant parts of your 2" diagonal in order to perform this upgrade. Although this is straightforward, no instructions are included with the adapter. However, William Optics has put together a sequence of photos at this link showing how this is to be done. Tools required for this upgrade are not included, and neither is the 1.25" RotoLock adapter shown in some of the photos in the preceeding link.
- 2" eyepiece holder insertion depth = Xmm
- Total length = 49mm
- Maximum diameter = 75mm
- Weight = Xoz. / 150g

Nice upgrade to my excellent WO durabright diagonal.Pros: Cons: Comments:
That’s a great upgrade. My only complain is it takes many turns to tighten the eyepiece. With the Baader Clicklock, it’s faster. Still, because I really like that diagonal but can’t stand the traditional thumbscrews, it was worth the upgrade.
