My name's Dimitri. I got a 10 inch Dobsonian half a year ago and been enjoying the night skies ever since.
A few days ago I gazed at the double cluster's h Persei (NGC 869) and noticed a particular feature. There are 5 blue stars around a super giant V520 in a form of a "paw". However, one of the stars was flickering, completely disapearing for 5-6 seconds and appearing again in the view. All other neighbor stars were completely still.

I have checked that star out two nights...

I'm an amateur astronomer from near Toronto, Canada. I've been using telescopes since the late 1970's and right now I have an 8" SCT (Meade 2080) and a 70mm refractors (NewStar/Skywatcher f/10 achromat).

I'm a frequent contributor on some other astro forums, and I'm hoping that this one will be a fun place to hang out and learn some new things.

I have been in the hobby for 18 years. Yet, I have not joined a site like this for a number of years. Time was my biggest issue. But things are clearing up, and soon I may have time to spare.

As an amateur astronomer I prefer objects such as planets and bright DSO. This is probably due to my primary observing site; my front and back yards. However, I have been able to get a lot of observing sessions by using my grab and go scope and binoculars.

I bought my first telescope when 12 and loved observing the moon with my little 60mm Tasco but it was the faint but clear image of the rings of Saturn that got me hooked forever...
